Sister Anila Christy, of the Congregation of the Daughters of Mary, from Tamil Nadu, India was with us this weekend for Mission Co-Op Sunday. Sister spoke at all Masses about the missionary work of her order.
Next weekend, August 19-20, the second collection will go to the Daughters of Mary mission which the sisters run for the poor and mentally ill. They also run orphanages for abandoned children and provide homes for the homeless and those afflicted by leprosy and AIDS.
The Missionary Co-Op Plan of the Archdiocese has supported the ministry of the Daughters of Mary since their mission was given pontifical status by Pope John Paul II in 1988.
We thank the Sisters of St. Joseph for hosting Sister Anila at the convent this weekend.
