Picnic Headlines Exciting Sept!

The St. Gen’s Parish Picnic Sept. 15 is now just two weeks away!  Are you signed up in the narthex to help us with a food and beverage count?

Don’t delay, please. I realize many have been away on vacations this summer, since we miss you all at Mass. But please take a minute this weekend to sign up how many from your family will be with us for the picnic.

Our St. Gen’s Men, with a great volunteer committee of helpers from all walks of the parish, have been preparing for months now for the big day, and we need you all there to make it a huge success! Friends of St. Gen’s who join us for Mass and celebrate liturgies with us are also welcome!

The day will feature fun games, music and cookout favorites (aka burgers and dogs) on the grills and whatever favorites you wish to bring – just a reminder that no alcohol is permitted on the State Park grounds! (The rumor that I will be sitting above a dunk tank ready for your target practice is – ahem – not happening!). And I hear that The Cat in the Hat plans to stop in for photos with the children!

Thank You, Knights of Columbus!

Big thanks go out to our parish Knights of Columbus, Santa Maria Council, led by Mike Vecchione, for resurfacing/sealing the slate in front of our beautiful Our Lady of Flourtown grotto facing Bethlehem Pike by the rectory. No more cracks and loose cement/tiles. It looks fabulous. And I’m sure you noticed, we restored the electricity a few months ago and it looks gorgeous at night for passersby on The Pike.

More great work from our Knights, who last summer constructed the brick sidewalks and patio and installed benches in our Mary Garden out back of Church! Bless you, brother Knights!

Note to Extraordinary Ministers, Servers, Lectors: A reminder to please use the scheduler on the parish server to sign up for Masses and routes! Big help!

The Picnic headlines another busy parish September, with school bells ringing this week here and throughout Springfield Township, at all our grade schools, high schools and colleges!

Next weekend, our Sunday PREP program resumes, this year directed by Trish Coady, who has worked tirelessly all summer to prepare a fun and enriching program of faith formation for our PREP children. Parents, this is last call for registrations!

MMMM, I smell Baked Goods!

Mark your calendars: Oct 5-6 is our Samaritans’ Sweet Blessings Bake Sale and Gift Basket Raffle Weekend in Parish Hall. Hmmm, what should I bake?

Have a great school year, students, teachers, families!

God Bless you all!

— Father Kevin
