From Father Carl – October 4, 2020

From Father Carl

Evangelium Vitae (EV)  – The Gospel of Life.  In March 1995, Pope St. John Paul II wrote his prophetic document on the Gospel of Life.  Since this is the 25th Anniversary of the document and October is Respect Life Month, the resources available for Respect Life Month center on this document.

Respect Life Month – October 2020 -reminds us to celebrate the dignity of each person created in the image and likeness of God, redeemed by Jesus Christ, sacred from the moment of conception to natural death, and a “manifestation of God in the world, a sign of His presence, a trace of His glory” (EV 34).  In other words, how we think, treat, speak, and act in relation to other people matters because of who they are in the eyes of God.

You can read the original document here:  http://www.vatican.va/content/john-paul-ii/en/encyclicals/documents/hf_jp-ii_enc_25031995_evangelium-vitae.html

We are grateful to Rosemarie McCabe and Joe Manta for their regular efforts in coordinating respect life opportunities for our parish community.

Thank you for your support, questions, suggestions, and concerns.  These allow us to continue to listen and learn, and better serve you.  Remember, I/we are only ever a phone call away. Be assured of my continued prayers and support for you and your loved ones.

St. Genevieve pray for us!

God bless,

Carl
